I went out in the garage just now and test fit my new tank emblem. The only good thing about still being able to see the old emblem is that I am able to place the new emblem in exactly the same position as the old emblem.
Like I said above, the new emblem covers almost 90% of it. And like a few of you said, I will just let the Sun take care of blending the last 10%. It's really not that bad and you can really on see it at certain angles and lighting.
Now I just gotta go pull the other side now before this weekend because I think I may be able to sneak a ride in on Saturday... supposed to be over 50+ and sunny!
the wax works. try it before you knock it. i have pulled two diff sets of emblems off my tanks and i live near death valley, so you can immagine the amount of sun the bike gets. the wax works. after removing it, use some windex and it will be good.
I removed all the factory emblems from my black Dodge when it was new and a ghost outline remained for a few weeks after, really showed up after a dusty ride. Went away after a week or so...I used WD40 to remove residue BTW
Just park it out in the sun and do the other side a second day. It's because of the UV rays. I work with kitchen cabinets and the same thing happens. Sometimes a customer has to replace a door under warranty and the New one doesn't match. I tell them to leave it out ont their deck in the sun for a day. It works every time.
