I'm considering forward controls for my 07 Street Bob. HD now offers "standard" and "reduced reach" versions. The latter is about 1" closer to the rider and about 1" higher. I also have an 07 Sportster 1200 Low with forwards which I believe are the standard version. They fit me fine.
With a 30" inseam, which style would you select for the Dyna? Anyone have the reduced reach version?
I would say, do a search, check your surrounding dealers and see if they one in on trade that has the different forwards and go sit on it.
Hard to tell without really getting a feel and seeing if they fit you...
BTDT - no similar bikes yearwise anywhere within 100 miles. I tried out a 2012 Fatbob and Wide Glide - both have the standard forwards. Nothing has the reduced reach so I have no means of comparison. That's why I was hoping someone who has them might have something to offer.
Best way is to go the dealer and ask if they have any bikes with what your looking for on it..I have a brand new set of std chrome forwards , still in the box shoot me pm.
Screw going to the dealer. They are never good for anything other than trying to sell you stuff. Every time I go in, they try to sell me a new bike even after I tell them I just bought one from them a year ago. Anyway, I also have a 30" inseam and considering the reduced reach controls. I was actually about to create a post about it, but figure I'll add to yours. The standard forwards just aren't comfortable to me. I'd love to have the Switchback floorboards, but the dealership quotes me $700 for all the parts to do the swap. I'm almost ready to push the button for reduced reach controls and then adding floorboards. I'm not sure if a stock floor board will fit because of the reduced reach, so I am prepared to build a set of boards.
If you find a price better than $392 for the reduced reach controls, please let me know.
Thanks for the input Greenstreet. Lakeshore has both black and chrome reduced reach for 319.95 - www.lshd1.com.
What I hate is that the P&A book has an illustration of both compared to the mid controls on the dyna but not the same data on the sporty. If they did, I would have a frame of reference since they nicely lay out the distance to the new forwards. Interesting thing is that my highway pegs are more than 2" further out than the standard forwards. Yes, I know I don't shift and brake on the pegs, but I also know my legs reach them nicely.
As for the floorboards, can you get the part numbers? If so you can price them at Lakeshore, New Castle, Surdyke and Chicago - dealerships that sell parts at a discount often up to 20%.

Wow, Thanks for the heads up on the forwards. I'll probably order them tomorrow. I've looked all over and never came upon that website. I only found them there because I had the H-D pn already-their search sucks. Hopefully, they don't charge a fortune for shipping. I do not know what floorboards will fit because I am not sure if the reduced reach will accept the same boards as the standard controls.
Most of the online dealers work that way - you need to have the part number already. For new stuff, like the forwards, just look it up on harley's site. For replacement parts, if you don't already have a parts catalog for your bike (along with a service manual) you're missing out. Well worth the price.
I have the service manual(I do my own work). I have a parts catalogue somewhere around here too. Moving means alot of stuff still in boxes. I've done google searches for the HD part number for the reduced reach forwards and came up with almost nothing. I will give you a heads up on whatever info you need whenever the kit comes in.
BTW, I googled the part number for the best price I could find and almost nothing. Then google under shopping and only 4 results come up and only one of them is for the controls via Latus HD.

Yup, moving sux. If I can help provide p/ns just shoot me a pm - tho my parts catalog is for an 07 (well got one for the g/f's 00 FXDL as well but not any help on newer rides).
Looking forward to your review once you get the forwards (no pun intended). I'm still back and forth - the standards on the WG and FB at the dealer felt fine, but that's sitting still of course. My Sporty is shorter overall compared to the Dyna, so I'm guessing the forwards on it are likely close to the reach Dyna ones. Bends my knees but definitely not as cramped as mids. Guessing I could probably handle either but since bent knees are better for handling the reach might be a good compromise.
