As long as you can handle it, there shouldn't be a problem. To me, a Dyna is easier to ride than a Sportster. I love both bikes, but the Dyna is balanced better(Sportsters are more top heavy). Some of the bigger bikes are balanced pretty well, but the Dyna has the bigger motor and smaller frame. It's a versatile bike. It might intimidate you the first couple of times, but after getting a couple hundred miles, you will probably think you were being silly worrying about it at all.
What do you intend to do with the bike? If you are just bar hopping, a big bagger is just jewelry and might be more of a hassle getting out of the garage than it's worth. You can do alot with/to a Dyna. The Switchback is one hell of a nice bike. The Wideglide, to me, sits and feels really nice. The Street Bob is a nice bike. I had one and still miss it. Easy to keep looking good, the mini apes are comfortable. My current bike is a Superglide Custom. It is as close as you can get to a Low Rider and leaves alot of room for customization.

super glide custom is a great choice if you like a more polished dyna (some extra chrome and a little nicer paint job) and might do some two up riding as it comes already set up for that . If you like the bikes a little rougher and are only going to ride solo Id look at the street bob. Any bike in the dyna line up is probably gonna suit your needs. I like the switchback ok but id rather have a Super Glide Custom or a Street Bob. I love how my Street Bob handles.

I too just purchased a new Super Glide. I traded in a 1200C Sportster for the new Dyna, and it was the best decision could have made.

Last summer I went to demo days at my dealer and rode all the bikes they had in the demo fleet + rode several used bikes the dealer had, so I had a very good comparision on everything...Sportsters, Dynas, Softails & touring bikes.

After I had ridden pretty much every bike HD makes, it was obvious to me that any Dyna is what I would want if I could....long story short, I was able to do it financially this year and could have bought any bike I wanted & I chose a Dyna Super Glide Custom. All the Dynas are great bikes, basically just set up different..

-Super Glide Custom has a lot of chrome and is set up for 2 up riding. Very comfortable and handles great.

-Street Bob is basically the same bike as the SGC from a mechanical standpoint, but has mini apes, and and blacked out engine & wheels and is not set up for 2 up riding unless you change seats & add passenger pegs.

-Wide Glide is set up a little differnt & has the 21" front wheel and is raked out more.
It also has the black wheels & black engine parts. The WG also has the 103 motor, whereas the SGC & SB have the 96. Comes with forward controls.

-Fat Bob is is different yet...it has the 103 like the WG, but has a 16" fat front tire and slotted wheels. FB handles great with the drag bars and has dual disk brakes. Forward controls are standard on the FB as well.

-Switchback has the 103, but also comes with detachable bags, windshield and better seat and is set up more for long distance riding.

Take the riding course, then go ride every bike you can and you'll know what you're looking for after you've done this. I had narrowed it down between the FB & SGC, but chose the SGC because it was what I really wanted anyway, but it was also $2,300 cheaper, and for that I used that $ to add a ton of extras to my bike.

No matter how long you have been riding you can learn something from the rider course. As far as choosing a sled do what was mentioned above and also go to dealers and asks many questions and set on every bike you can and ride them on demo days. When you find the one you will know it with out a doubt. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the info dreamer. Went to the johnston county web site, found the course is a LOT cheaper than ray price, will definately be doing that sometime this summer when money frees up.(I would take it now, but as soon as I have the endorsement I know i'm gonna be itching for a bike more than I am now.)

So a little update. Went to the harley shop today with some buddies of mine, just to look around. Didn't realize the itch could get worse. Sat on probably six bikes, can't wait till the money clears up in a few months after the kid is born.

You can't go wrong with a Superglide. When I bought mine ( in june of 2011), I did a little shopping and research. The superglide is, by far, the most bang for the buck in the Harley line-up. Good luck with whatever you decide. Have fun and be safe.

I did the same last year, and yep, the most bang for the buck!
