Mine seems to buffet over 60 too. Am thinking of trying some wind deflectors that attach to the forks as well as the 2" tank lift. So from what I am reading, on the WG, I might need to kick the bottom of my touring shield out toward the front as well? Maybe the deflectors and lift will do the job. Whadda ya think?
Others have written that they had much success by raising the tank. I just got one of Jacks AeroVest and that helped tremendously. It greatly reduced the air coming up from the tank into my eyes. I don't know about lowers. I haven't seen any posts on them.
I still have my Vucanand I'm no scientist but the shield on the vulcan has about 2-3" of rake more than the HD shield. I really think that if the HD shield could be raked out more then it would allow the wind to pass. I think it's too vertical. I think it would be an improvement if you kicked the bottom out. I pushed the top in and it was better. I have to try the bottom. It's going down to 15-20 for the next week so I'll see in a week or 2. Let me know how you make out.
I don't know if Memphis, Rifle or Nat Cycle has more of a rake compared to HD.

I have the HD detatchable tall windshield on my 05 WG. Some buffeting but over all I don't mind it, I guess I'm probably used to it. I know it's a lot better than the cold, rain, rocks, and billions of bugs up here in MN.

Someone mentioned the windvest above,that's what I run and have made several long distance runs in the last few months with no problem. It is adjustable and it took a little while to get it right.
The height is set to where I can easy see over the top. The angle is to where the top is adjusted out about an inch from where it would be if the shield followed the line of the forks.
It seems to me that most buffeting is caused from wind from below coming up and around the tank. That's why the aerovests help from what I've heard. I dont have one.
A tank lift helps, seems to direct a lot of air down instead of up into your face.A small bag at the base of the shield on the inside seems to help,blocks some ot the air coming from below.Reversing the mirrors to below the bars helps,forces air away from your lower arms and the sides of your upper body.
I guess it's a combination of small things but I'm real pleased with my set up,never take it off.I can run for hours at speeds up to ninety or ninety five if I'm in a hurry and still be very comfortable.No way I could do that without the shield.

What size did you get? I'm leaning this direction myself but not sure which one to buy, may see if I can get two sizes and try them and see which one works best (not at the same time). Cost more for shipping to send one back but want the right size.
I don't for sure remember the size now,fifteen inch tall I think. My recommendation woud be to get the taller of the two. Theres an inch of adjustment in the windshield mount and you can get another inch of adjustment by flipflopping the mounts that attach to the handlebars.You want the bottom of the shield as close to the headlite as you can get it while still having the top of the shield to where you can easy see over it,maybe about even with the tip of your nose.
I also used to have a Vulcan Classic (02 Fi) and not only is the windshield at a better angle, the tank is wider, with might contribute to less buffeting.
