Default SEAT Recommendations

I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend a new seat for me? I'm having back problems when I ride over 100 miles and i believe it is due to the fact that my seat is to hard. I currently have a 1 up seat, but no back support. Would a solo seat be better, or should I get a back rest. Any thoughts? Been looking at Mustang, Corbin and LePera, but not sure which is the most comfortable.
Thanks for your help.

the ones you mentioned have decent reputations for treating people fairly... only one i would definetly not recommend is diamond custom seats... they won't listen and will just ship you what they want.. mark hartco will not listen and talks over you the whole time.. he also doesn't read emails.. his mistake cost me money.

I have a Corbin dual tour. Very comfortable & you can install a backrest for you & passenger. Not the cheapest option, but very good quality.

Ive heard a lot of good things about the comfort of the mustang solos. Foot rest position can make a huge difference, I like mids because forwards will kill my back. My stock fxd seat was terrible, I went with the sundowner and the difference was like night and day. The rider seat is wide and dished out enough to offer good back support

A backrest is a great thing to have. I have the HD Signature series 2-up seat and its a good seat. You will likely find a recommendation for every seat on the forum. Mustangs are very popular for comfort. I think it is important to consider width for front and back. Some seats are sold as being for "all day" riding and are just 13" wide, now that may be true if you are small and light. The Mustang and HD are the widest you"ll find. Both will move you forward and up about 3/4 of an inch.

My C&C Fastback 2up gives me all the back support I need. Pics in my album.

I've had 2 lower back surgeries, and have to agree. The stock FXDi seat was not at all good for me.

I went with the HD Sundowner (solo) for some time, and it was a marked improvement over stock however, after time ,I discovered it was damageing the paint on my tins.

I switched to a Mustang Vintage Solo (wide), and it's like sitting on a "lazyboy"! Very good for me on the long haul....a little lower/further back than the Sundowner.

That, plus having installed footboards, so I can shift my leg/foot position while riding has made a marked inprovment in comfort!

Riding tank-fulls between stops...no problem now.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes....Tim(HT)

I have had #4 back ops and just purchased the Mustang wide vintage solo w/rider backrest and IMO it is the most comfortable and GREAT support for the lower back. Get the backrest no matter what brand seat you buy.

Yep, backrest makes a huge difference no matter what seat you get and I think they are all quick-removable too.

C&C for looks, mustang and corbin for comfort. I've had c&C and now run a mustang, pics in albums.

Just ordered the Mustang wide vintage solo w/backrestand the wide vintage rear seat through Dennis Kirk. Total price $494.80. That's with free shipping. They're now 15% off. Thought it was a good price so I bought it. It seemed the majority of Mustang seat owners liked them. I hope I'll fall into that category when I get it.
