Is this a problem?
I'm going to tear into the bike today and complete the ignition relocation on my Street Bob. Looking at the switch I ordered, there is a black piece of plastic above the middle prong (first pic) , when I look at some of the other forum member's write-ups, I see there's a black piece of plastic off to the left (second pic) Is this going to be an issue connecting things? Another thing I'm concerned about is the alarm. Do I just disconnect the positive and negative from the battery while working with the wiring or are any other steps necessary?

You will know if you have the right part when you pull the wiring harness from the old switch. but that plastic nodule is just in place to make the install idiot proof. worst case i suppose you could just cut that off if it's in the way, but I am really just guessing at this distance!
if you have no alarm then just pull the neg. cable. If you do have an alarm then stand near the bike with the key fob, switch the bike on and when the alarm de-activates , pull the neg. cable.
