They're expensive, but Harley makes quick release backrests. I have the low Medallion (kind of misleading, its pretty tall) with a large 12" wide pad. If you want her to really be comfortable and secure its the way to go. I went for the HD Signature to give the option of having a driver backrest. It's 16 wide in the front and 12.5 in the rear, about the same as sundowner and mustang, everything else out there for dynas are smaller. The signature seat will move you forward and up about an inch each way. My GF finds the new seat way better than stock and loves the backrest. We road 512 miles running down to daytona for the weekend and we were pretty comfortable.

I also prefer the Sundowner seat compared to the stock seat on the Super Glide Custom, the driver and passenger positions are a lot more comfortable to both my wife and I. The sissybar is the quick detach for when she's not along and both make for a great ride for both of us. Just my .02 worth!
