Gauges-Ok what am I missing here?
In addition there is a greater variety of Gauges available in the aftermarket.
Your thoughts?
Bob
I would try getting info from Auto-Meter on what you need to get it to work in your app. if your dealer tells you they can't help you. I have the feeling the dealer will want to sell you another gauge at $150 rather than just selling you the sending unit.

Hello,
Technically, they would work just fine; however I would be worried about them holding up however. Our standard automotive gauges are not intended to be outside exposed to the elements such as sunlight or water. They are not water resistant yet alone water proof. They are also not built to the same vibration standards as our ProCycle line, however I know there isn't anything as far as gauges beyond a speedometer or tach in that particular series.
I have seen people do it, I myself have a Voltmeter on my bike, but I understand the risks associated with doing so and I accept full responsibility for it if it fails as I am using it outside of the parameters for which it was wasn't desired, recommended, or tested for. Our automotive gauges are not warranted against water damage and they very well may not hold up to being mounted/installed on that kind of application due to other factors such as vibration even if they don't get exposed directly to rain. We can not recommend installing them on a bike just due to them not being designed to do so.
Best Regards,
John
