Hi, I'm just in the process of fitting my short shots on my 2011 wide glide, firstly under the seat which one is the O2 sensor?, secondly the instructions tells you to pull the O2 sensor wires through and off the frame, do I actuall need to do this if I am only gonna screw them back in the new exhausts? And finally what happens to the valve at the end of the header pipes, if any body has fitted these to there wide glide any advice would be grately appreciated. My bike is UK if that makes much difference
the two o2 sensonrs are on the front under the regulator in a little box just unplug that.. the second one is under the seat...it is a 2 wire conector i believe one colore is blue( not 100%) anyways jsut pull the wires until u see the one for the o2 sensor moviing on the exhuast.. unplug it ur good to go... wicked easy just .. if not u have to take the pipes off and have someone hold it while u use a wrench and take them off .. just kno that if you keep them on u could pull the wires from spinning them.. good luck sorry for the vague description
Just trace the wires for the o2 sensors and unplug them. Pull your pipes off and then unscrew the sensors once the pipes are off. It's a lot easier this way instead of trying to take the sensors off when the pipes are still mounted to the engine. Swap the sensors over to your new pipes, install the new pipes, and then plug your sensors back in.
If you are thinking of goiing with an air cleaner upgrade with tuner anytime in the near future, I would recommend doing it all at once. Reason being is that you are going to ditch those O2 sensors an put blanks into the piper where they originally went. If you wait to install an air cleaner and tuner later on, you are going to have to take off the pipes again, not a hard job, but its easier to knock it all out at once.
Yeah, pop the wires first and foremost, makes the later job of pulling the whole thing off tremendously easier. Take off the pipes and then break those O2 sensors lose, they're a 7/8 wrench FYI. I just did this TODAY on my Street Bob so I feel ya.

Not for all tuners. Some tuners use the factory o2 sensors. Like my screamin eagle pro super tuner. And if you don't change air cleaner, no need for tuner.jmo

Thank you! I actually just put up a post about that! LOL

Well you can seen my green coming through when it comes to this topic. I assumed (thats where the trouble always starts) that all tuners bypass the O2 sensors........I will learn as time goes
Cheers for the advice, I just finished putting the pipes on, (which took me quite a while) started the bike up, and all I can smell is fuel, have I installed them incorrectly? How would I know if I have installed them wrong? Cheers guys

You would be able to tell if you installed them wrong if they are not pointing towards the rear of the bike. I always smell gas when I first start my bike. It runs rich while warming up.
