Default Need advice

Hi all, I'm a new member and I'm looking for some help. I have a stock 2011 street bob and just purchased v&h short shots and a kuryakyn corsair AF. Now I know this is a popular question but I want to know what tuner is best, i have looked into the fuelpak and the power commander V, as well as the screaming eagle. If I get the best tuner why do I need to dyno it? Also could I wait for lets say 4-5 months befor I dyno it without harming my engine?

There is a wonderful search function on this forum. It's all a matter of opinion. Some will say use XiED's, some will say V&H, some will say SERT, some will say do nothing, some will say PowerCommander (usually from FuelMoto)... There, that is almost every answer you will see.

Believe me, I'm no expert. They dyno to adjust the tuner to accomodate the mods you're doing. I've never had a bike dynoed though I probably should. I've always had Jamie at Fuel Moto set up the Power Commander for the mods I'm making. So far, this has worked. The bikes run smoothly without decel popping. In fact, I just got a Big Sucker/Stage 1 kit and PCIII (a little bigger and not as much adjustment capabilities but cheaper than a PCV) from Fuelmoto and he's set it up for the PC, A/C and the pipes I have.
As the previous poster said, there is SO much information on this site from very knowledgeable folks that you can find by doing a search. That's the beauty of this site.
Good luck

A dyno Is a great thing because each bike runs different no matter the simularities. But with tools like auto tune which greatly enhance your ecm's ability to adapt a dyno becomes expensive because when you change something down the road you will have to re-dyno, and they charge you 400 to 600 again. It is looking like the best new tool out there is the dynojet powervision. You ride with it hooked up und it records data while you ride. Then you can apply the new tune to your ride, and when your satisfied with the way it performs you take it off and put it in a box.

Personally, the screaming eagle I feel is best, but it is purely my opinion such as it is. The reason I feel this way is it is hooked up long enough to tune the Bike by making changes to the ECM. Then unhooked and handed to you to take home. Make sure you get it and all cables, you pain for them.
Whereas the other systems (maybe not all, but most) hook up and stay on the bike, they piggy back, that to me is just one more Piece of electronic crap that can go bad at a wrong time.

The SE Super Tuner, & TTS Master Tune are good for dyno tunes & you can modify tunes your self. A dyno tune will get you the best tune as it is developed from your motorcycle using your motorcycle. Other tuners like the DynoJet PCIII and PCV alow you to upload tunes from several sources including proffesional tuners... the down side is they stay attached to your motorcycle. several here have experienced problems with these types of tuners, others have had no problems. The DynoJet Power Vision is attached to down load tunes to your motorcycle, it can be used for Dyno tunes, and with software you can modify & or create your own tunes. It also has the ability to capture engine performance data if left attached while riding. It stores 6 tunes than you can download in seconds. you can have tunes for performance, MPG, ect... FuelMoto sells all the DynoJet products with acceptable tunes for your motorcycle based on accessories you have added. later if you want a Dyno tune, you can use it for that too...
