Glad your OK!!! Don't give up, learn from it like I did...I've been riding 30 years, but 4 years ago, almost the same story...I'm coming home from work on the same road every day, had a bad day and was thinking ABOUT WORK, as I'm coming up to a corner I go around every...daydreaming, Oh NO, Mr. Bill, the corner that NEVER has sand on it, is covered in sand, no open areas, I checked my speed, did the math in my head, and just had time for a very quick, to myself ..."I hate when this happens". Got banged up a little and broke my finger. Fixed the bike and got back on that horse!!!!!! BUT, I learned, I assume EVERY corner has sand on it...Ps Lucky I was on my old bike that day and not my rocker...Very glad your OK/Ride safe!
NJ really sorry to hear of your wreck was looking forward to meeting up with you
this year for a ride or 12....I truly hope you wont give up riding all together
I'm sure I'll be on another one just don't know when, this site is like a family ... I got tears in my eyes telling you folks that its going to be awhile or maybe never peace out and be careful some of us don't have 9 lives.
Lou,
What you wrote truly summed up a feeling most all of us can understand. Reading about your accident sends a chill down our spine. We realize the way you hurt, is more than just a bruise or a broken bike can show.
Your true loss of "spirit" is deeply understood.
You know, when things happen often there is a plan that you may not see or understand. If you've ever taken a risk in life / with your life, and live to tell about it, you beat the "beast".
A period of time will go by when this will be a distant memory. The sooner you focus on the positive of what the future will bring, the quicker you will heal your soul.
Wow! Like others have said, glad you can tell us about it. I hit a tractor trailer that turned in front of me years ago and will have a plate and 9 screws in my ankle forever. Again like others have said get back in the saddle and learn from it. My orthopedic surgeon that put me back back together asked was I going to get another bike. I said yes. He said "Here let me give you my card". I wish the best of luck to you.
Holy $hit MAN! Glad you made it out with minor injuries.
That bike is effed up. Can't imagine it not being totaled.
Keep your chin up dude...I'm sure that's a tough thing to do right now but you're among like believers in this crowd. Unfortunately, we as bikers have to live with the possibility that every time we get out and ride, some thing "Bad" could happen. As mentioned in an earlier post, we need to take note and always be "on our guard".
Heal up quick and keep us posted on your replacement scoot.
