No sir...you do not...
No really I do. I bought them myself and it fits regardless of the description. The bolts in the kit are wrong so maybe they got the restrictions wrong as well.

Yeah...I was wondering...I couldn't really tell with your picture. That's why I followed up my first post with another. Perhaps the reason you had a problem with the bolts not being long enough was because you used the brace with those particular covers...and as you can see...in HDs catalog, it specifically says under the description for those dust covers..can't install SE fork brace.
Honestly, I think this is a case of HD really causing confusion for this particular part. They're descriptions are not consistant...and the corresponding pictures show something that contradicts the description/limitations. It was enough frustration for me to just forget about it.

Actually, the bolts didn't fit at all. The dealer tried to install them on a bike on the showroom floor with rubber covers and even took another kit off the shelf in frustration. No luck. Chrome, billet or rubber doesn't matter. Mine aren't installed on the dust cover anyway. They are just below them leaving about 1/16th inch between the brace and the fender. Bottom line is they really work for me especially cornering.

KTM

I agree with everything you have said. My brace fits just below my chrome covers. The bolts that came with the kit only stuck out of the bare brace with 3 threads. Ain't nothing to do wit the cover, but just the fact that HD provided too short of length on the supplied bolts. BTW, like your Biker's Friend. Now working on the wife for one.

Tell her you need lumbar support and the back pain is intolerable. She can either massage you oryou can pay a therapist $80/hour to fix you up. For less than three sessions and you're set. Either way, you win!
