Default worth buying?

The bike is a 2007 FXDL, 10,xxx miles, screaming eagle pipes, detachable bags, detachable windscreen, sissy bar, luggage rack, highway bars, basic black paint, basic rims, Garmin nav. Metlzers with less than 1000 miles. Original owner, stored in an open barn- and you can tell. Oxidation, some rust. No forward controls. Asking price is 6995. I know I can clean up some of the oxidation, and some parts probably need to be replaced to make it shine. But I'm hesitant about it because of the storage. Also, the front fender is a little bent. Thoughts?

thats a decent price, the oxidation can be powdered over or maybe polished out...

Just wondering how the engine is if the exterior looks like that. Who knows...it could be a good deal...or not.

Yup. Condition is only everything. You can pay a dealer to do a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Make sure it has an untainted (non-salvage) title. If it checks out, that's a good price.

Does it even start? Look at the plugs, at least. How does the oil look in all 3 places? Just thinkin out loud.

It seems to run fine. She took it to a HD dealer and they told her to try to sell it for 6995. I would have thought they'd buy it from her, clean it up, and try to sell it for 10, based on what i've seen for prices lately. If I were to get it, I'd have to put forward controls on it, and eventually paint it, plus whatever chrome. Not sure it's worth it.

look at the plugs look inside the tank, and very importantly the engine and tranny oils. you can tell alot by the engine oil. If the throttle a, idle and clutch cables all spring back and the fluids look ok then ask him for at least 100 off for the clean up just ask maybe you will get him down some.
