They are usually located in larger cities. Where they will have the main police station and substations positioned in diff parts of town to provide more police presence and a community feel.

I can do a regular police station in about 2 hours...going to court this am. 
But a substation will have to wait til this evening. There are only 2 substations in Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area.
