Default Luck and dumb luck I guess

well yesterday i got really lucky three times.
The first i'm not really proud of, i was not being careful. I was on a small windey highway in the mountains, but it's one of my favorite cluster of twisties and i had been following this clump of cars for 2 or 3 miles and I just had enough , so we reach a reasonable stretch af straight road and i gun it over the double yellow lines. A pick-up truck with trailer decides to turn left andit was up to God I guess because he slowed down just enough for me to pass and wind up on the shoulder to the oncoming lane. Whew! anyone behind me would have been red gushy cream. Had to scrape out my shorts on that one.

Really guys ride safe i got extremely lucky on that one.

The second i was on the home stretch of the ride about 45 miles from home right and i gear up 1-2-3-4- easy into 5th, it's a freeway--> lots o' cops so i 'm takeing it easy, but the next time I go to shift there is no pressure on the shifter! AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I couldn't see what was broken so I didn't want to stop in case I can't get going again so i ride the entire way into montreal after reaching down, finding the rear shifter lever and powershift by hand into 4th. I make it into town by the skin of my teeth and the fumes in the tank because now I'm down to 1 fuel light on the guage! just about 4:30 and my local H-dealer is open for another half hour. He doesn't have the oem crap shifter rod in stock, but has a willie G. skull aluminum shifter rod for 180$ + tx coming to 205$ instead of 32 for the oem, but it is better so i buy it.

The third thing i come up on a hidden speed trap while trying to get home stuck in 4th and my usual self may have been popped right there! for points and $$$$

I don't know if you have a lottery in Montreal but if you do I would buy a couple tickets.A winning ticket will make it easier to swallow that shift link.Stay safe

The only luck I read was regarding the pickup. As noted, you are warned. Take it from someone recovering from two surgeries, and metal hardware in my body for life. Totaled my bike and a car. I should be walking on my own in about 4 - 5 weeks, and riding a new bike shortly thereafter.

I could have died. You may have died. It's no joke. Ride safe!
