Default Front end wobble

Just out of curiosity, I've noticed a slight wobble at around 75 - 80 mph on my fat bob. Nothing crazy or worrisome, but coming from a sport bike something I didn't experience. Is this something indicative of HD, or a difference in the rake between my bob and a sport bike? Just curious what others have noticed.

It's not normal. What year and mileage is your bike?

The first thought would be the neck bearings. You probably need to get your fallaway checked and adjust it.

Two weeks ago I began to notice a slight wobble on my Deuce as well. Checked neck bearings (fall away) and found that the dealer had cranked the adjustment nut down as far is it would go. I replaced the bearings and rode happily away. Nope, wobble still there. Last weekend went on an overnight trip (850 miles) and the wobble slowly got worse. Nothing dangerous, just a slight oscillation in the bars. Put the bike up on a jack and spun the wheel. Noticed a slight wobble. Turns out that I need a new front tire. It's not obvious by just looking at the tire when the bike is just sitting there, but there is slight cupping that I see when the tire rotated. Once I saw it, I could then feel it. While I was checking it that closely I also noticed small cracking in between the tread. (The tire has 8000 miles on it.)

So, maybe it's your tire. How's the pressure? Been keeping it up to spec?

I just purchased the bike a couple of weeks ago. Since I've been riding it the pressures have been correct. I've been doing all of the maintenance for the 5k service, so I'll take a look at the items mentioned in the previous posts. All of the insight is greatly appreciated.

There are more post about the Dyna wobble than you can shake a stick at. Almost all the stories include one common issue and that is the 80mph wobble in sweeping turns. Lots of people will give you lots of answers but for me the final solution was a stabilizer. Many things come into play on Dyna's such as fall away, tires, tire pressure, swingarm bearing, shocks, rake, trail and a million other things, but the fact that True Track is THE dyna forum sponsor speaks loudly enough for me. Check out their site and make up your own mind. For me a stabilizer was the best and most effective solution.

Definitely check both the neck bearings and the front tire. If it's cupping you can't really tell unless you feel it by running your hand over it. This is a known problem with the stock Dunlop D427's which is one reason most people switch them out pretty quick.

Personally, I'm liking the Michelin Commander II's.

Oh, one other thing to check. Check to ensure your rear wheel is properly centered.

This softness is due to the rubber-mounted engine/drive-train.

Yep similar issue with my FXDF since day one. A fairly commonly known issue with them using the Dunlaps more noticeable when coasting at say 25-35 mph if you take both hands off the bars. At speed on sweepers there is a noticeable tail wag. From others I have spoken with the True-Track appears to address and correct this.
