Did the 5000 mile service on Saturday and everything was just fine. Yesterday was going to take momma for a little memorial day scoot when all of a sudden I felt something wet on my pants leg. Stopped and looked down and saw oil that had been streaming all over the primary case. Checked it a little further and saw that the left front fork had oil coming out the top of lower tube. Darn turn around and take ole scoot back home and load her on the trailer. All in all a good weekend except for that. Anyone else have this problem happen to them?
My Fat Bob is in the shop right now having the right side fixed under warranty. I hope this is not common, I've never had a seal go bad on any of my bikes before.
i have seen this happen when seals are installed upside down as well... but they are rubber seals man sometimes even the new ones are funky... easy enough fix
My left side had a slight leak (not enough to fling oil anywhere) when I bought it, they said they would replace it when I brought it in for it's first service. Now the right side is starting. Just called them to schedule an appointment and mentioned that both were leaking now. They said they would do both, no problem. Great customer service, but I would expect a brand new bike to not have seal problems.
Why did you load your bike on a trailer? A bad fork seal is easy to change and not a lot of time to do.
I actually just did a total service on my front end including new bushings, seals, and dust cover along with new fork oil. Removed my ricors. Now my front end actually works now. I couldn't ride another day with the front end so stiff.
