Now for the next question has anyone tried aftermarket fork seals with better results?
Never, ever, use aftermarket fork seals. I have installed them several times on several bikes over the years and ALL of them have leaked. The last set was on my race bike. Oil-soaked the brakes during a race. Never again. Never had a problem with OEM seals.
my right seal blew last year at 5,000 or so miles. easy fix. watched a video of how to tear down the forks on youtube. but the seals & tools i needed.
I got the trees and lowers powdercoated while i had it apart, but all in all - tear down & reassembly took approx an hour from the time i jacked the bike up til i set it down (not counting powder time).
I used OEM seals and heavier screamin' eagle fork oil.
Why did you load your bike on a trailer? A bad fork seal is easy to change and not a lot of time to do.
I actually just did a total service on my front end including new bushings, seals, and dust cover along with new fork oil. Removed my ricors. Now my front end actually works now. I couldn't ride another day with the front end so stiff.
It's still under warranty. Thought i would let Harley fix it and make them aware of the problem so maybe they will fix it so others don't have the same thing happen to them. No big deal though, just messed up my memorial day scoot.
Yea mine are leaking too!! Left only. Will add more oil this weekend. No time to fix right now! Damm harley crappy seals. 2006 Street Bob..out of warranty
Just got an update from my dealer on my fork seals. My sliders were heavily scratched which obviously chewed up my seals. H-D is sending them a new front end assembly. H-D said they have seen this on a "few" bikes.

Hey Vic... I'm wondering why?? What changed? One of my favorite front end mods was the Ricors and I ride some rough terrain up here in the NE.
Also it's been a while since I've been on the site.. sorry to see the news of your northward migration. Must have been hard to give up all those nice roads... Oh! maybe that's the problem with the front end!
