Default Windshield Shopping

Hey guys, I have been trying to search and read up on this topic as much as I can but I'm not finding the info I am looking for.

In a couple weeks I am going for my first trip, 3 hours up the interstate. I am thinking without a windshield it will be miserable going 75 for that long. I have been shopping around for a windshields, but with no experience its hard to tell the difference.

What windshields have you had good luck with for something like this? Thanks

Windvest all the way. I have tried the QD one for my bike and hated it. Installed the standard length Windvest and I love it. I'll never take it off. I have a Wide Glide and this shield is not oversized. Fits my bike really well.

I agree with Romark. Windvest is the way to go.

Hey Austin Dave, If you see a utility trailer with a Wide Glide on it traveling through Austin Thursday or Friday, thats me!!

Taking my daughter to Waco then Austin for college visits Thursday and Friday. We will then go to a friends in Boerne for the weekend and do some riding on the 3 sisters with my bud on Saturday.

I've had the windvest and the qd sold them both and bought another quick detach. Didn't like the windvest as much as I thought I would. Depending on how much wind you want to block. Go with a full size shield like the QD. And add Memphis shades lowers to control buffeting.

I just bought mine yesterday at the harley dealer and I love it. It is the HD windshield and I am impressed with the quality. The brackets are quick detach and look 10 times better then the memphis shades that I was going to get. Its 18 inches tall and looks awesome.

I've heard a lot about windvest and some company, i believe they were called long haul shields or something. I tried getting on their website but it wasn't working. I have it narrowed down to the windvest, the long haul, or the QD

Long Ride Shields. I considered them and had some conversations. I believe they are good too. Company is a HDForum sponsor, but I don't know why the site is 'down'.....

I have the HD QD and like it a lot. Off and on in seconds and can be adjusted up or down several inches. I have never tried the others mentioned but really had no need. The HD shield suits my needs and works great.
