Looks to me they acheived that by anodizing the fork tubes. There is another process called diamond like coating (dlc) but I have only seen black being the color. Rocket Bobs shop does this process for some ($$$ aint cheap) and he is in the UK I believe.

Those are the only two ways that I know of, because painting and powdercoating won't hold up. So you have to pay to play if you want the fork color changed from the standard aluminum look. Post up some pics of your ride.

I've seen fork tubes that were acid etched with flames on them, of course that is a theme carried onto the tank as well, could be worth a thought.

Default Coatings

What you are looking at is Titanium nitride which is a coating that is electrically put on inside of a vacuum. The fork tubes must be micro polished and is used to allow easier sliding to reduce stiction. The application for that Dyna is a waste of money because the HD bushings are so loose that a slicker surface is not needed. Only when close tolerances are machined such as what are found when the bushings are inserted into a hot, expanded outer tube (slider) and captivated by this tube in place which than the two bushings will allow a straight steel fork tube to slide up and down in them. Again, tolerances is what it is all about. The Showa in the OP picture has a bushing that is captivated on the fork tube and as the slider moves up and down the bottom bushing slides inside of the slider on the honed aluminum slider surface. The owner did the color for looks only and serves no purpose.
