Default installing apes advice?

Do I disconnect the wires from under the tank to run wires or disconnect from the controls?

yeah just pull the plastic piece from under the tank (near the front of the tank)and pull the wires down. there you will see the connectors so you can disconnect them.

What everyone else said. Once you pull the plasric cover from under the back bone, all the connectors are revealed. Its a very simple process once you actually see it for yourself.

In no way do I want to sound like those guys who are no help and try to contribute absolutely nothing, but get yourself a service manual if you don't already have one. When I put my apes on, it was my first time doing that type of work and the manual acts like a cheat sheet cuz it spells everything out for you very clearly.

If you dont have a manual, post your questions anyway, a ton of ppl on here will help you out.

Lifting the tank makes life 1,000,000 times easier! What I do is tank both front and rear tank bolts out, then shove a bath towel under the tank from each end. That gives you ample clearance to work with.

Thats what i did. I didnt want to pull the tank and mess with the crossover tube. So i just unbolted the front and rear and slide it back. Used a bunch of towels under it to raise it up.

I took out the plastic cover under the backbone and the rubber plugs in the neck to get better access. If tour pulling the wires out of the bars, make a diagram of all the wires in the molex connectors so they all go back in the same place. You'll need to take that apart to get the wires threw the bars.
