Default Problem with Slip Ons

I have a 2003 Dyna Superglide. I've got Screamin Eagle IIs on there, but they aren't loud enough and I dont want to remove the baffles. I just bought a pair of used Rinehart slip ons and they look pretty good. The diameter looks exactly the same as my SEs. I tried putting them on and realized there were some rough edges on the inside of the Rineharts. AHAAAA, no baffles. Obviously I would have seen this had I not been in a rush; but No problem, I'll get some torque cones.

My problem is....even grinding down the rough edges inside, it's still difficult to put the slip on all the way on. It looks like the pipe is just not big enough. I measured it against my SEs 2 or 3 times, because I couldn't believe what I was seeing; they are the damn Same!!!!!Does anyone know of a way if it's ok to put some sort of lube on the end of the pipe to help put this damn non-slip---slip on correctly onto my exaust?

Thanks

It's ok to use a little WD-40 on them if you think that will help.

I doubt the prev. owner needed to cut the baffles out, reinhart and bub are made to have interchangeable baffles. Unless that does not apply to slips. Look inside you slip on and see if there is a cheese grater looking tube. If it's in there then that is your baffle.
Line up the slip-on and it should go on. It may be very helpful to have someone else hold pressure in the opposite direction so as not to bend the header pipe, or even snap a header bolt off.

Thanks guys! Once I looked inside the Rineharts and could see straight through them like a big straw, I knew the baffles were gone. So at that point, I decided I would probably need to just remove the pipes completely to put in some torque cones.

I'm still having trouble deciding if they cut the tops a bit to get the baffles off or if they were just slamming it down on the concrete, but I was able to dremmel away the rough edges and smooth it out, now I just can't seem to slip on the slip-ons. It still seems a little too tight and I was worried about what kind of lubricant would be ok as far as flamability is concerned.

I also have the Screaming Eagle II slip-ons and I don't think they are loud enough either...

I will be changing them out but first things first. I want a brighter headlight, LED. As I was riding home from Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky last night it was so dark and my little "yellow" light just didn't seem that bright...

I'm not a huge fan of the Auxillery lights on my bike, but I will say that I have the 2 slightly big bulbs right below the sides of my headlight. When I turn these babies on at night...it's pretty damn bright. They aren't much to look at, like floorboards on a dyna, but they are, functionally, very worth it!

When I bought my '03 the first thing I bought of the shelf at the dealer was Screaming Eagle slip-ons. My bike sounds great with them and my friends have often commented that they wish theirs were as loud. In fact, mine sound so good I have passed up some pretty nice pipe sets on ebay, such as Rineharts. I have heard that the newer SE slip-ons are not as loud, and I think it has to do with the fuel injected bikes since the mid 2000's and the associated emission standards. I don't know if you can still get the model they had in '03, but I suspect not. If you see any at ebay or at a swap, buy them if you have a carborated bike like ours.

anti-sieze will help them slide on and off. Its been a while since I've removed mine, but I thought they were slotted at the part the slides on then held in place with a hose clamp. Can you gently slide a cone shapped dowl in there and tap with a mallet to open them up a bit.

His pipe was probably just a hair smaller than yours so when he clamped it it squeesed the slot tight.

1-take the rough edges off
2- lube with white motor grease
3 have somone hold the headpipe so there is no flex or give, this is very important for a few reasons.
