Death Star Dyna
Anyway, I'm commenting on the FXRT, the FXR, FXDX and FXDX-T. It seems the vast majority of the fans of these models are from the West Coast. Especially the FXRT and FXDX-T. They're light, nimble and narrow (comparatively speaking) and are awesome for far travels here in California where it's LEGAL to share lanes with cars. Ride fast, ride far, and take your junk with you. The perfect Harley in my opinion.
It's far easier on a FXRT or FXDX-T than on a bagger. I've got mirror scuffs on both sides of my batwing fairing from whacking various cars... Not a scratch on my Dyna.
The original FXRT fairing was developed in the late seventies or early eighties when Harley was considering a switch to water cooled motors. The inlets on the fairing were to be ducts to a radiator placed under the seat of the bike. I believe it was going to be a water cooled v-4. There's a history of the FXRT written somewhere...
Anyway, small production run, badass bike. Period.

The shape of the fairing seems to pick up some of the styling of the Road Glide ... one of the most hated (and beloved, by the owners) bikes in the lineup ...
For the longest time, I never cared for the Road Glide, but the looks of the 'fugly' have grown on me ... so, I suppose that is why I am more tolerant of the FXRT looks ...
The bags and the lower fairing are at odds with Harley's styling tradition ... the 'modular' looking bags do seem to reflect more styling influence from Europe or Japan than from the earlier production models ... however, I feel they fit in with the overall look ...
And, to me, it works ... I might have been making similar statements as some of the haters on this thread just a year or two ago ... I guess tastes change ...

As a total hijack, those floorboards look to be almost identical to the FXDP Dyna Police Defender floorboards ...
