I've gotten just about the entire kit installed but I cannot figure out what the heck to do with the retainer clip to save my life. There's just no place that it seems to go. I don't want to cut, so any advice on how to actually use the clip would be fantastic. I've never read such a poor set of instructions.
Also, spun the head off of the bolt that goes into the shift lever an have no idea how to get the rest of the bolt out. Any ideas on that either?

1) Spray it down with penetrating oil. Take a small screwdriver and using it like a chisel, try to catch the edge of the screw. Tap it in the lefty-loosey direction.
2) Use a "left hand" drill bit.
Last resort-
3) Use an "easy out" in the hole created by the left handed drill bit.
Are you talking about the retainer that holds the shift shaft for the mid-mount controls? If so, on my 12 it threaded into the hole in the arm that is attached to the mid-mount shift shaft. You tighten it all the way in and then back it off slightly so the "v" cutout sits against the inner primary cover when you swing the shaft down to hide it. Then you use the rubber spacer and the chrome spline cover to hold it tight. Use a long flat bladed scrwedriver to hold the shift shaft tight and you may want to sand the rubber spacer slightly, it makes it easier to compress it so you can tighten the set screw in the spline cover properly so its in the groove of the shaft and not on the splines.
If thats what you are talking about and need a picture I can take one of mine.
Thanks for the explanation, Chief. I ended up getting another part from a Dyna Floor board kit that was a little bit more straight forward. I used p/n 34639-01.
Turns out that I also ended up with the extended forward control kit as opposed to the standard forward control kit (bought it off of craigslist). At 6' tall and with a 34" inseam I'm right at bottom end of who should be using the kit and would probably prefer the standard forwards. But, it'll do for now!
