I used the Cyclevisions Road Glide fairing mount for my RG fairing and went with the Cavalry Fiberglass bags which are a little larger inside than the HD ones since
there is no shock cut out.

Since these photos were shot I have adjusted the bags forward and up so that now they sit closer to the shock body and are level. The next step is to have them painted in the Denim Black.
Cavalry bags are Fiberglass and lined instead of ABS plus they are like $725 but only come in the Gloss Black or a few other colors.
The only issue is they bolt on instead of using the removeable fasteners, however for a few bucks and some work it is no big deal to convert them to removeable too.

This will be a winter project for me. I have already acquired early OEM bags off of Ebay (pre 1983 or 84, not sure when style changed), original mounting brackets (I will weld on a plate to adapt to my 06); lastly plan to cut and glass in a recess on the inside corners to allow me to move them further forward and still clear the shocks (that idea comes courtesy of something I saw here on the Forum). Waiting for OEM parts to arrive to install floorboards (ordered last week, again thanks to input from none other than the Forum).

Good luck, should look great; all you have to do is please yourself!

Corbin makes bags that mount similarly and look to hold more stuff than the HD bags.

They run $1200 so not cheap but me and my girl like them a lot and I'm really happy with them. They fit really well.

I like the lines of those Corbin bags. They look sexy.
