Default Vibration In 6th Gear

09 Low Rider, 20,000 miles. Bad vibration in 6th gear at interstate speeds 75+. Down shift to 5th and it smooths out and vibration goes away. Indie shop owner rode it and agrees that vibration is not normal and definitely feels mechanical and not tires or front end.

Initial thought is the front motor mount which appears to have quite a bit of movement at idle or when revving the engine. Ordered a new mount which should be here next week. Any other thoughts or ideas on a possible cause? BTW..... front motor mounts are expensive @ $100.00.

Has your bike been tuned or have a tuner on it?This sounds very familiar, since I got my bike dynoed there is no vibration in 6th gear,I hit 70 + and it's pretty smooth riding.

Either motor mount or you are just too slow for that speed and get harmonic vibes

Everything was good after a PC-V and a dyno tune. Not exactly sure when the vibrations started but it's fairly recent so the suspect is something mechanical. Bike runs smooth and strong other than the vibrations in 6th.

75 up to 100mph shouldn't be too slow for 6th.

HD Service put out an MS sheet out the subject of the front motor mount. It looks like they are finally acknowledging a problem that has been around since 1993, when they first started using this design. The MS sheet is dated 16 May 2012. Sorry I do not have the sheet number, someone on this forum had mentioned and posted it. With a search you may be able to find it.

The Service Bulletin number for the front motor mount is M-1324.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Rick. I checked around the net but couldn't find it. Do you know if they are replacing them under warranty?
