Supposedly they're expecting temps to be around 106* for friday or a bit more... Still going to ride anyway i guess.... 30miles each way, hope i don't get caught in a traffic jam....lol.... What kinda temps have some of you guys ran in??
It hit 105 here today. It was like having a heat gun blasting on me. They're saying 108+ for today (friday).
I've never really dealt with that kind of heat for prolonged periods, but after about 4 hours today riding around town on my bike while working, I have all kinds of terribly itchy tiny blisters on my arms.
It suppose to be 107 here in the nashville area today! Rode last sunday 200 miles it was 102 that day. And did feel like you was riding thru a blast furnance.
I've ridden in 110f weather here with an armored jacket, full face helmet, gloves, jeans, and boots. It's actually best to be covered up..keep the heat out and your own body temp insulated.. I stopped every hour or so for cold water and every couple of hours for an AC break...Chewing gum will keep ya from gettin' too dry between stops.. First sign of any diziness or headache, stop and get a Gatorade!!
Also, having 25/60 motor oil in the engine helps some...
118 here in Phoenix, did it once and never again. My bike sits June - Most of september
Holy crap that's hot! It was 108 when I rode home from work yesterday. High humidity and no wind. Brake and clutch levers were hot to the touch even while moving.
It's supposed to be as hot or hotter today and I still rode to work.
this morning was 63* on my 35 mile commute and the high today is 92* so that means itll be at least 102* by the time i get off work to ride home, but i wear a fullface and jacket...its hot as hell covered up but better than getting burnt...
Well now they're saying it might get too 108* or a bit more... already in the upper 90's and it ain't even lunch time yet.... supposed to be like this until next tuesday... highs in the 100-105 and lows around 80.... i did wear a half helmet this morning "usually wear a full" ....
Spiro Drummer has almost nailed it. I've ridden in very hot (110F) temps
here in the American Southwest and everything he says is true, but I'd
add the following... use a hydropack like bicyclists do and drink from it
continuously.
I went for a ~50 mile ride this morning early and it was still nice (expecially in low shaded areas north of Raleigh). Now it's brutal...can't even let the kids out. Time to camp indoors and hydrate with favorite adult beverage.
