Default Bad regulater

I seem to remember back a few weeks back someone said HD had a batch of bad regulaters shipped out. I did a search on all the fourms & came up with O. Any help ? I replaced stator, regulater & batt. couple months ago, did both checks with ohm meter on the stator, O to grnd. O.2 across the three posts. Did a output test at the battery 12.3 - 12.5 @ 1,000rpm even at 2.000rpm.

Default reg

I just replaced one but on an older 99 Dyna. In Lowes parking lot and no one has jumper cables. Go back in store and buy jumper cables and another multimeter. New guy parks right next to me and has jumper cables and multimeter after I've already tore the wrappers all to pieces. The way they have them hooked up no wonder they fail. For one thing the connector from the stator and back to the battery is right under the oil filter so it can catch a load every time you change oil. It is also right behind the front wheel so catches everything the tire throws off like rain, gravel, rodents, grayhairs. And then they ground it to the bolt that holds the regulator to the frame. Lucky to make a good connection in ideal conditions. After a two day search for the regulator and getting it flown from Fairbanks to Anchorage I finally got it hooked up and home to Valdez. Just left the battery wire long and now I'll remove the tank to make the proper connections. My preventative manintence will be to rid myself of the connector with solder and heatshrink and run the ground back with the hot lead to a common ground connection.

Thanks for the compliment, their Arnett air shocks bought them on e-bay for 799.00 on sale, I believe their discontiued, but they still make them for sportsters, & touring models. Give them a call & see. Legand & a few other companies make them but average over 1,000.00. I like them just pump them up or down for for different road conditions.
