If it is a trans failure, sounds like its only a few months old or did I read that wrong? Maybe it's under warranty from the mfg?

i had a buddy with an old kicker 4spd lose a tooth on a gear once.. broke his chain luckily.

dont buy a new tranny just buy the rebuild kit. shaft/countershaft etc. youll be able to tell if it was the tranny if you take it apart.

>> If it were the trans, I believe pulling the clutch in would let the bike be able to roll.<<

If the transmission locks up (from main-shaft or gear failure) engaging the clutch won't free the rear wheel as there is a direct connection between the transmission and rear wheel via the chain sprocket or belt pulley. The only function of the clutch is to interrupt power between the primary and the transmission.

However, if your engine seized engaging the clutch would indeed free up the rear wheel.

Wish to say Thanks to everyone that has given suggestion on my trouble..Not easy to know what to do when things go wrong since this is my first bike..should proberly gone for a newer one but you guys wouldnt belive me what a new HD`s price tag is in Norway. Guess you would get an heartattack if I said it..
Had a little moment today to get my finger inside a "inspection whole(?)" No rubber was felt there, only a chain..so I guess it has been modiefied perhaps and that the trouble is someplace else

Not quite sure what you're saying about the rubber/chain ...

Stock Harleys utilize a chain-type primary drive (two-wide system) with wet clutch ... so, it would make sense that you feel chain through the primary inspection cover ...

At first, I thought perhaps it was a problem with a shifter pawl (the 'fingers' that move the gears) ... but, you mentioned being able to find neutral ...

If you can put it in neutral and start the motor, that would indicate to me that the chain drive is okay ... if that doesn't work, I think one of the first things should be to drain the primary fluid and remove the outer primary cover so you can discover whether a primary chain break/malfunction is the possible cause ...

To lock up the rear wheel, I think the most likely explanation is an obstruction in either the gears or primary drive ...

Assuming the primary is okay, the next avenue of exploration is the trans ...

Good luck and post any more specific info on either background or as you get into it ...

At last had some sparetime and got around open the primary..not a pretty sight..Lots of metalparts laying around
The cluthc-basket could be moved around..not much holding it in place..Wondering if a shaft is broken maybe..'
Got some pics but they where to big to upload and I dont know a bit about modyfing it
Guess I might as well start to work more overtime and look around after a new one..and a new clutch..Try to decide what to get and where to shop..
Well well..the season is almost over anyway here..not gonna get out riding before the snow is gone maybe in april so I have time to do some work
Looks like I am gonna learn to work on a Harley this winter

86FXRS-SP....send me a private message if I can be of any assistance. Your post jumped from problems in the primary to buying a later model transmission. Is there a problem with the existing case?
