Ive done 415 miles in a day - day trip only. I felt pretty beat up by the end, not having a windshield and all. But didn't feel that bad the next day.... just makes for a good nights sleep.
Yeah I think I am going to ride it. Have to meet them in Pennsylvania for a couple days before going to Laconia. Instead of carrying all the clothing and crap from LA to PA, think I might ship it to my buddies and go from there. Thanks for all the input. Watched some guys do the Iron Butt ride (1,000 Miles in 24 Hours) on the Hog Heaven show the other day.
I replaced the cam chain tensioners at 51k (a little too long but no problem) and the normal maintenance items, brakes, tires, etc. other than that, doin just fine, oh yeah, I did poke a rock through the belt but that's not the bikes fault. She's been good to me, but then, I take pretty good care of "Ruby"-----jack
Rode 7200 miles last summer over 30 days with a week backpacking in the Sierra Nevadas(which almost killed me) and a week in Yellowstone. Several 600 mile days on Street Bob w/ Sundowner seat and quick detach windshield. In addition to those pleasures the highway pegs made a huge difference too. The only trouble I had was the Inner Primary Bearing which was replaced in San Francisco with no hassle. The trip was a life-time memory maker, and the bike was incredibly comfortable. I've done long distance on other makes but they don't hold a candle to the Street Bob with its 6 gears and 434 pounds. I got hit by a windshear that picked the bike up and moved it to the others side of the interstate in North Dakota during a storm, but the semi's and the rest of mother nature were a cake walk. Can't say enough about the Street Bob as a great all-around bike. I'm putting a Race Tech cartridge emulator with progressive springs on the front and Progressive 440's on this winter- can't wait for the twisties and the long trips next summer. Jay
you all beat your selfs up . thats cool i did 30 years ago . i would take off ride 1300 miles in three days . then a week later take off for maybe 900 miles ride .but two wrecks and a whole lot miles later i do things alot differnt.you can call people who trailer what ever you want. but till you know the story lighten up .when you all have put 40 and 50 years and more on a bike and live to to tell the story. then you can bragg till then stand in line there is people ahead of you that has put the miles on.and has live to to tell the story.
1000 milesplusin one day on me CVO Bagger - England to Spain - thinking about taking me 07 bob this year for same trip - maybe a bit longer on the way down tho!!
