Default 1000 mile service

I called the dealer for a 1000 mile service and they are booked for a month out. Im already at 1700 miles so I dont want to wait any longer.

I tried doing a search, but could not find threads about doing the service yourself. I have a service manual, so doing any adjustments should not be a problem for me. But I am not sure what is normally done besides an oil change.

I think page 3 or so of the service manual has a chart showing what should be done at different mileage levels, with a bunch of X's, R's etc explaining what should be checked, replaced, adjusted, etc. If your service manual doesn't have it I can take a pic of mine tonight and post it

I had a similar issue with scheduling my appointment and I had a ride to Montana planned. I changed the oil at 1,400KM and checked all the fluids to buy some time before my break-in APT. I ended up with 2,600 KM on the clock when I took it in for my break-in.
2 things they found and replacing under warranty:
1. Rear spokes came loose. Wheel had to be trued and they are replacing rear wheel under warranty
2. Voltage Regulator is on order and will be replaced under warranty

at the very least you should change the fluids yourself now. the 1000 mile service is the most important service on your bike. all critical fastners get checked...your fork bearings i am sure will need to be tightend. spoke wheels, clutch ect.

this is from the manual for a 93 fxdwg by the way
also just noticed that it doesnt include the 1000mi increment, but id guess if you do the 500 and 2500 that should cover it. hope it helps.

the critical part is changing all 3 fluids and switching to synthetic in the motor

trans and primary are fine but i noticed the top end was super loud with synthetic engine oil on my wide glide last year so since i change the oil every 2500 miles anyway i went back to regular dino oil.
