Hello fellow riders im looking to put some vanes and hines pipes on my 2012 wide glide and was wondering what i would be needing for a complete install, is the fuelpak really needed? And any tips or help with this is greatly appreciatted.
When i put my v and h's on it was my understanding that the only set that really needed the fuel pak are the short shots. Runs like a crap without it and with short shots from what i heard and maybe other people know more about those than I do but thought i'd get the convo going. When i put my big shots on I also put on a new air cleaner and did a stage 1 download. Mine works great for me and i love it. I think that's about the norm for the best performance and least amount of money. Hope this helps or gets some more talk going at least

1) torque wrench plus other sae wrenches
2) New exhaust gaskets
In my opinion, I would get some kind of fuel management system.. I know others wouldn't agree, but it's your scoot.
I have a 2010 wide glide with short shots installed and have no tuner whatsoever on the bike. Runs fine and has since I put them on. However, I have read where every bike can be different. Some have had problems, some haven't (like me).
FWIW, I just bought a Screamin Eagle ventilator air cleaner for mine and will have to buy a tuner before I can install that. Pipes only you should be fine.
Oh, and my wife has a 2004 WG with V&H big shots on it with no tuner either. Wish I had waited and bought some of those, but got a really good deal on the short shots from a private seller. Slightly deeper rumble and just a tad more mellow than mine. Sounds really good.
can't say anything that hasn't already been said...
just pipes, should be able to get away with it.
pipes and air cleaner, need to get tuner.
Install is too easy, get new gaskets and a socket wrench. two nuts on each head pipe (total of four) and then one for where the pipes go on the support bracket. Don't forget about the 02 sensors either!
Any other info? Keep it coming!! Considering v&h bigshots staggared
I'm not sure what other info you're looking for. Do a simple search and you'll find hundreds of responses on the subject. Some say you need a fuel management device or tune, others say you don't. People will debate/argue this back and forth forever along with which tuner is the "best."
