"bare bones" is just that. Your rear end won't be enjoying it after 50 miles. Great looking low profile seat for riding around town, not so much for trips of any distance.
I have been through at least 5 seats searching for the perfect looks/comfort seat.
I currently have 5 seats:
Lepera Bare bones
Mustang Vintage Solo
Stock street bob seat
Stock FXDC
Danny Gray Weekend solo w/gel seat.
Picks below of bike with the Danny Gray and with the bare bones.
I can ride a very comfortable half day with the danny gray.
I can ride a very comfortable 20 minutes with the bare bones.
I now keep the danny gray on 100 percent of the time.
I had a bare bones for awhile. It was comfortable for about an hour at a time. The trick is not to combine that seat with short travel shocks like Progressive 412s.That combination will kick your *** literally.
I bought this seat knowing that it was going to be uncomfortable. Anymore than 50 miles on this seat is hurtin', Im going to buy a C&C fastback in a couple weeks for this reason. Don't get me wrong it looks awesome and flows with the bike really well but its uncomfortable as ****.
