01 FXD Tank Removal
I have a service manual ordered, but I want to remove my tank and get it shipped this weekend to have a dent worked on. I searched, but didn't come up with any links or posts with the info. Before I tackle it, any advice or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

1) Siphon out as much fuel as possible into suitable container.
2) Use 2 small pairs of vise grips to pinch off the fuel crossover tube. Once pinched off, then you can cut between the two for lifting the tank off and then drain each side one at a time
3) Pull the fuel pump CB, hit the starter to purge fuel from the QD on bottom of tank before removing the QD
4) Put a towel over the top of the motor, they scratch easily
5) Follow the service manual for removal of the fuel gauge if installed, you may have to depin the gauge wiring, again, service manual and a safety pin for that task
Not too involved of a process, but take your time to avoid any future unnecessary repairs

Got the tank partly off
I have to figure out what to do at the petcock, so I don't just Forrest Gump my way through that part.
How does the in-tank filter come out? That seems to be the only part that's left to disconnect to have the tank free of the petcock assembly.
