Ok, so I am stumped. First my bike was loosing power while I was riding it. So I check the positive and Negative hook ups. The positive terminal is melted. Can someone explain why?
Second, I go and get a new battery, the only place open at the time is an Oriley's and so I end up with a battery that requires me to put the acid in. When I hooked it up my bike shot sparks from the hookups and the acid began to bubble through the seams of the seal. Does anyone have an idea as too what is going on?
I'd say you have a short. Follow the pos cable back to the fuse box and see if the insulation is intact. If so check your main breaker and start tracing wiring back looking for faults.
If the main fuse didn't blow, the issue might be in the pos cable from the battery. The bike is pushing 7 years old, so something could have rubbed through. Crazy **** though...

The battery terminals or cables run very very close to chrome cover and /or frame.
Terminals/cables are experiencing an intermittent short due to motor vibration.
Wires are getting hot due to short.
Loss of power due to shorting of system.
The battery you bought is a piece of crap and was not charged before use.
You did not fix short or check connections at battery and other end or replace the damaged cable..
You did not test electrical system with a simple digital voltage meter.
But i am just guessing see i can not see the bike.
Ok so it was my neg cable and the batt was a pos! Got a new batt, bought a new neg cable, and now it works and runs great. Thanks for all the help.
Glad it worked out..It seemed like a simple fix after all.
Thank you for returning with solution to problem once it was fixed. It helps for everyone to know the final resolution.
