I know there has been a lot of threads about seats, but there as just as many opinions as threads. As I look for a new 2-up seat for my 2012 wide glide, the big differences in the big four (Corbin, HD, C&C, Mustang) seem to be how they look on the bike. Both mustangs and hd seats seem thick and loaded with padding, great feel - iffy look. The Corbin's and the CC's seem leaner in their profiles, but are they as comfortable?
My question is are the leaner looking seats as comfortable for long rides as the mustangs and hd's. Is C&C a comfortable seat for a 400 mile day?
I just got a mustang wide tripper solo diamond stitch seat. Wont really know more about it till I put 3000 miles on it next week but so far I am surprised at how comfortable it is. I have always used corbin seats . My last mustang i did not like at all but this new seat is really comfortable. they also make it in a two up version called a day tripper. I got the mustang directly off there website for 290.00 including shipping if I am not mistaken. I did not have the bucks for a corbin this time. The mustang appears to be a really well made seat.
Thats a great price. I've seen that one online. I'm gonna head to my hd dealer and try on a few seats, and balance out style with comfort. 3k miles next week. Sounds awesome, and intimidating. You heading to Sturgis? Eitherway have a blast and ride safe.
I have a Le Pera Maverick (Dennis Kirk, $369) that I just did a couple 600+ mile days on. It's thinner and lower than the stock seat, and it's firm but comfortable. Not as comfy as a Mustang touring seat, but looks a lot better. My wife really likes the passenger perch, but she typically doesn't do more than about 3 hour rides.
i like my c&c its comfortable. havent had it out on any 400 mile rides yet. check out http://www.meancitycycles.com/ they can rework a big ole sundowner seat or whatever and make it pretty sweet. thinking about buying one and having it reworked for long rides.
I could mod a seat I suppose, but if I could get a 400 mile seat and keep my wife happy for three hours that would be great (insert joke here). We'll see what comes from trying on a few. I suppose no matter what I buy it's good to know I have options to have it reworked.
Is it possible to add a drivers backrest to a stock seat that doesn't have one? I didn't see it on mean city cycles website. Folks I know that have one highly recommend it, but they add a couple hundred bucks at least.
Just fyi: I tried a Mustang Vintage on my FXD and returned it before I got the Le Pera (see above). The rider seat was great, but the passenger seat was nothing like the Vintage I had on a (AHEMyamahaAHEM). The pillion was shaped to fit the lines of the Dyna which really affected the comfort.

thank you for the well wishes . Im heading from S.W. Montana to Idaho, Wyoming then Colorado to see my daughter in Pueblo for 4 days. Then back through UT, ID and on to OR to see my folk and some friends. Then back home through Washington, Idaho and finally home to Montana. I will be without a computer on the trip as I have a cell phone but not a smart phone. Hopefully can get a couple of pics even with out my own camera handy. Good luck to you on finding a seat that works for you. As far as the ride being both awesome and intimidating yeah I agree totally. Post results when you get your seat . id like to know what you ended up getting and how you liked it.
