Just got back
Hi guys; I just got back from the Kyle Petty Charity Ride and it was the best bike ride I've ever had. The coordination and execution was almost flawless and the fact that we rode across the country and never stopped for lights or stop sign was fantastic. At times we ran upwards of 90 in formation and out back, we ran over 110 several times for minutes at a time. The weather was perfect most of the time although we did get into some bad fog in the Big Horn mountains and a little rain the last two days. Got to ride with Richard Petty, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Green, Harry Gant, Tony Stewart and Davis Love Jr was there also. I had dinner with Pattie Petty and all the folks were wonderful and there wasn't a stuffed shirt in the place although 85% of the riders were millionaires. I was one of the 15% that weren't but you'd never know it by how nice everyone was. We stayed in nice hotels and ate really good (most of the time) and there were refreshments at every gas stop. It is a once in a lifetime deal so if you get the chance to do it, don't pass it up. 4810 miles in 12 days and my butt is hammered but I loved every minute. I think we raised about 6 mil for the kids and although sitting in the saddle from 6 am till 10 pm got tough at times, the look on those kids faces was worth every bit of it, they are precious and need all the good times they can get now because for many, there won't be a next year. The best money I ever spent and if the Lord is willing, I'll do it again next year. I had tears in my eyes alot seeing the joy in these kids eyes when we would pull in and then let them sit on the bikes and wear our helmets and have their pictures taken with the celebrities---priceless---cheers---Jack

Yes I wore my vest and passed out 12 to those with the right bikes. The word spread about how well they work and Kenny Crosswhite, the official nascar minister, came to me and said he had been hearing great things about the vest. I gave them to folks with road kings, victorys, heritages and of course dynas, but let's face it, most of the bikes were ultras and wings and beemers so only a handfull could really use the vest but for those who did, I got really good feedback and may have even found a backer.----jack
