Just a thought....... would it make any difference if I went with the 10 inch bars instead of the 12? Would I still need cables?

Again, not positive, but with 10" I would think you could get by without getting new cables. I went with the Burley 14" kit for my bike. Damn things cost more than the apes did!

That's my problem! The cable kits are $300 and the bars are only $200. I know if you're gonna play you gotta pay but dang!!

I would try to go with the stock cables first. At worst, you will have to pull your bars back towards you a little bit so there is enough slack, in the meantime order some cables.

At best, they will fit!

your going to need cables with 10" or 12". The comfort is night and day. Worth every penny.

I'm looking at a set of 8" road 6 apes with 1.5" risers on my '11 wide glide, guess the stock cables should be fine?

I did 12" Wild One Chubby Apes and went with cables from Jireh Cycles:
49-227 Russell 52" Brake line (comes with washers) $39
48-664 Pro Motion 72" Clutch Cable $19
48-752 Pro Motion 39.5" Throttle Cable $11
48-753 Pro Motion 39.5" Idle Cable $11
I later switched the throttle and idle to 34.5". Fit much better.
Part number for the 34.5" is: 48-754 and 48-755.

Unless you are getting braided cables, you should not be spending more than $100.

Default another place to look

I think you should look at a seller called hcccycles on eBay. they have bars and cables as a kit. but they also sell cable kits, just have to tell them what bike and what size bars your are going with. I am going to go through them for cables to put 12" street bob bars on the Low Rider.
