Default Engine pinging

800 miles on my 2012 wide glide and whenever I get on it a little hard, I get a pinging noise from the lifters, ready to schedule the break-in service so was just wondering if this was normal? No engine mods yet either btw.

Are you running high octane fuel? Have you tried a different brand of gas but still high octane? Not all high octane fuels are equal.

Have you checked your oil?

Im running 87 octane (factory recommended) gas in it, with no ethanol, also Ive noticed it really only does it after the engine is hot and has been running for awhile.

Put in 91 from BP (no ethanol). I wish we had 93 but it's very scarce here in Iowa.

It's most likely the lean condition that comes from the factory to meet EPA standards for emission. The best thing to do is a comlete stage one with a properly set up tuner. For now, put some high octane fuel in it.

I run BP 93 in mine from day one. Never had a problem.
