I've got a 2010 wide glide with approx 25k miles. This weekend I noticed the front engine mount rubber cracking or splitting. This is the second front mount this has happened to. Is there a more durable replacement? Sure, it was under warranty the first go round, but I think it just expired last month. Either way, I don't wanna try a third stock mount unless I have no other option.
Thank you for any advise!
I have not heard or seen any aftermaket mounts that are more durable, but I'm wondering if you looked at any of the threads for shimming the front mount. Maybe the mount is stretched to the point it is tearing and shims could reduce the strain on the rubber.
I'm just replacing mine too. I couldn't find any alternative to the HD part that didn't say it was a direct replacement and exactly the same as stock.
There are non-stock parts available from J&P and stockists of V-Twin Manufacturing parts and I went for a V-Twin Manu one just because its a different make and there's a slight chance it would be better but, as I said, there's not supposed to be any difference.

Eric Arthur Blair, aka. George Orwell
There is no recorded evidence Orwell ever said this or anything quite like it. It was likely made up by a Washington Times journalist claiming it was an Orwell quote, probably to add some gravitas to it.
Its likely though that Orwell would have agreed with the sentiment as its similar to ideas in writings by him.
PS - I can see the River Orwell from my study window, the river after which he took his pen name.
When I was in the HD dealer a month ago talking to the parts guy about the mount, he asked me if I wanted him to order me a motor mount made of a better material for $160. I did not get a part # from him, but there are upgraded ones available.

First I have heard of this anywhere, interested to see if anybody knows anything about this?
I recently replaced mine. Try to keep oil off it. It's hard, so if you do get oil on it, wash it down.
Another thing you may want to do to relieve stress and pressure on the mount is shave the top bump to give it more clearance. Shimming may help as well.
