I am contemplating purchasing a 1999 Wide Glide with 13K mi. for $6K. This will be my first HD. It seems like a pretty sweet deal as it is a very clean and nice looking bike.
Does anyone have opinions one way or the other as to whether this might be a good value? Any fatal flaws with the model year or anything?
My dad bought one in '99 and still rides it today. It's the first year of the twin cam, but he's never had any issues with it. With only 13k on it, there's obviously been more sitting than riding. The bike is now 14 model years old. About the only thing I'd worry about (on ANY twin cam from 99-06) is the cam chain tensioners.
If you like that bike, there's no reason to stay clear of it.
Thanks for the input. I went ahead and picked up the bike last night. The ride home was awesome! Can't wait to start putting some miles on it. Very excited to finally be a Harley owner!
