I did buy two new switch relays (one spare), didn't work. I know my battery is good. When I put the starter in, I had both battery cables completely off the bike because I was going to get new ones but these looked really good, so I used them... besides, they were only a couple years old. So tonight I plan on taking the battery out and check all connections inside there to make sure nothing is lose, but I was able to check many already and so far they all looked good. I was also thinking about putting my old starter in just to see if it turns over, thinking maybe the solenoid in the new starter?

That's an option; still anxious to know: Where do you hear the click?

Good question. I thought he was talking about the relay. But he could be hearing the solenoid?

At first I thought the click was at the solenoid, but now I think it's coming from the relay. I plan on spending some "quality" time with it tonight, just hoping to get a list of things to look for today before I get home.

Okay, I can't say I am 100% positive but I think I can say that I'm 99% sure. It was load tested when I put the starter in, and I have a battery meter and it is right up there, and with the key on and me pushing the start button, and holding it when hearing the single click, all my lights work at full power. But just to make absolute certain, I could always wait until my wife isn't looking and swap batteries with her Switchback.

That's what I'm trying to find out.

Only hearing the relay could mean there's no 12v feed into the solenoid.

Hearing the solenoid clicking, could mean two things:
a. the battery has to little power or
b. the solenoid isn't working properly

OP stated he jump-started the bike the other day. This leads me to think the battery hasn't got enough power.

The best way to find out is to connect a multimeter to the battery and do a voltage reading with the ignition on and to do another voltage reading when the starter button is engaged.

if the battery is the factory harley I would guess the battery is junk------------when it comes to load testing theses batteries not just any load tester can tell you what you need to know unless its one of the more expensive ones .The old load testers can't see shorted cells

if the voltage is low it can trigger all sorts of issues from the battery right on down to the starter relay ,then on down to the solenoid and even the starter. My quess its the relay just due to the increased draw of the bigger starter. The guys who run the allballz carry a extra relay just in case

If you don't hear a click at the solenoid you should check if the green wire that runs from the relay at the panel to the solenoid (see attached wiring diagram) is connected properly.

I did put a meter on the battery and it show high voltage, but I did not test it with the key on or pushing that starter button. But if all my lighting works, wouldn't there be enough power from the battery to at least turn the engine over?

Another thing I did do, after jump starting it, with the bike running I pushed the start button and still got only a click, if that info helps any.
