Default Push start and "click"

I have an '09 Low Rider, 7k miles, bought new, no accidents, never been dropped, kept very clean. I went for a ride, about 30 miles out, stopped in a parking lot. After about 45 minutes, I flipped run switch, fuel pump primed, pushed start and one, loud, single "click." Bike ran perfectly prior to this. I ended up jump starting the bike to get it back home.

Now a little history; This past spring, after my original starter was grinding, I replaced with a 1.4 kW starter and it's been starting right up ever since. Also, last summer I replaced my levers and tore my starter switch button, so I replaced that. I offset the cut of the two wires, soldered, and double shrinkwrapped each wire. No problems with that since. I keep my bike very clean and there are no connections corroded as far as I can see. Had the battery load tested this spring and it was fine, plus I have a small tester at home and it currently registers fine with that. Once I turn on the key, all lights work and stay on perfectly when I push the start button. I replaced my starter relay, no luck.

I am going to take out my battery, tray, and starter, for a better look, as well as take apart my right handlebar controls to check the start button & wiring, but thought I'd ask the pros here for advice before tackling that. Warning, I do not know much about electronics.

First question, if I push the start button and I get the click under my seat, wouldn't that tell me that my switch is working? Second question, any other thoughts on what it could be? I've done all the searches but nothing really matched my situation. I'd very much appreciate any helpful advice.

Check the battery cables, that's the number one cause. They come loose very easy. T

This is the first thing I checked. They are tight and clean, at least at the battery end. I will check the other end once I can start tearing things apart. I was able to check both ends of the ground and it looks good.

Whats the battery volts doing? Does it drop low when you press the button?

Check the ground cable. Have the battery load tested. Check your mods.

I checked the ground, battery was load tested, and I'm in the process of checking my mods (starter and switch) but I really don't believe that either of those are the issue.

I wouldn't tear apart your switch wiring just yet. You say that you hear the start relay "click". Your switch and wiring is probably good. You really need a meter to troubleshoot ony further. Your problem should be localized to just a few areas. 1 - Bad relay. 2 - Bad battery. Or 3 - Bad battery connections.

Where do you hear the click: at the grey start relay or at the starter motor?
