Wide Glide hubs?

Wide Glide hubs?
Is there a difference between wide glide hubs and other bikes? I'm sure this seems like a strange question. The only reason I ask is after watching a video on you tube
, the guy say you have to have a wide glide hub to make this work??? Any help would be great. Thanks
