I had my 09 Fat bob in at a custom shop and I told him I liked the wide glide raked look. Before you know it, I'm liking the idea of a raked out fat bob. My question is will it be safe at highway speeds? I asked him how my handling would be affected and he said I wouldnt notice the difference. He ordered an accutronix 5* triple tree and some 11" progressive rear shocks. There was no mention of trail. I was browsing today and saw a few posts about trail and the shopping cart effect and now im wondering what have I done? Am I screwed? What can I do?

I done my fatbob a couple of years ago and went with 3 degree trees from Hawg Halters they recommended that was the safest to go with unless I wanted to change out my forks for longer ones. And I also had 11" progressives on it, 3 degrees was really changed the look and the ride was still great. Do a search under my name and you will find my post of the completed product.
With 5* trees I would seriously think about adding a couple inches to the fork tubes in addition to the shorter shocks.
When I added 2* to my Wide Glide (4* in the trees) I added 2" to the fork tubes and it rides and handles just fine.
There is a link on this page for a rake and trail calculator that is more in-depth than most of the online calculators, play with different numbers and see what it says before you make the swap.
