I very serious doubt it will hold up for long.
I would check with a muffler shop to see if they would do it and how much it would cost.

would a shaft from a touring bike be able to be placed in a FLD? that would save all the welding and you can just mount the shifters like on the touring models.

More or less this set-up:

You could do some measurements at your e-glide set-up and check it against the switchback's shifter bracket?

YES, this is what we are discusssing here and what mrnone did to his FLD..
he used a different shaft but it does require welding to the lever

not sure if the whole touring setup would work as detailed above..

wow what an improvement
always felt a little cramped on her bike (shes five foot two)
she put it best
feels like a grown up bike now
all three bikes have boards , heel toe, fairings and tour pak now

Has anyone seen these in real life? I ran across it searching for for a solution that I could use.

http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id173.html

It looked like it had possibilities but I was worried that it may hang too low. (and yes it is $200, but if it worked...)

Am looking for a heel/toe shifter too. Searching the internet today I came along the site of eGlideGoodies (http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id173.html) and I think this is what you might be looking for.
According to Barnett (http://www.barnettharley.com/afterma...l#.UlvsXxb_2YQ) it should fit a Switchback too.
