Voltage Regulator?
Hey folks, my dad's bike started having a few weird issues a few weeks ago and I was hoping I could get some input on what might be causing the issue.

2002 FXD
approx: 35,000 miles
Battery appears to be ok, no start up issues or anything that would indicate a dead battery.
The other day my dad started the bike up and went on a short ride, shortly after he left the house the speedo started to snap from 55MPH(current speed) to 0MPH several times, while doing this odometer was in working order.
Along with the speedo issue the bike also developed a slight miss through the Mid RPM range.
The speedo issue then quit and within a mile or two of that the miss quit as well.
The bike did this on two separate start ups on 2 consecutive days, it has been fine since (about 2 weeks).
Ideas?

I had same, well similar, issue with my '04 FXDP. My speedo went dead briefly whenever I hit a big bump. Pursuit lights died momentarily too.
Turned out to be loose connector at ign switch. If possible, take a close look at the ign switch & make sure all the connectors are clean/tight before you go throwing any $ at it. Could even be a bad ign switch. I had that issue as well, but it manifested itself as a total system failure while zipping down the road at 65 mph. Pucker factor to max. That was a $25 fix (new ign).
