all dressed up for winter riding
Have you noticed much difference in fuel economy from dressed to stripped down ...?
I've been running around bare-chested most of the summer and have been getting around 43+ MPG ... my previous average had been just under 40 MPG ...
I don't know if maybe it was less weight or lower profile/less 'sail' area without the fairing ...? Was just wondering if you or anyone else had experienced the same effect ....

I like the look your going for. Powder coat looks really good.
I've often thought of pulling off the touring package to get a different look, even a solo seat.
One thing I have to say is your inner fairing looks like a huge boombox. Are those 7 1/2" sized speakers? Being a DJ all my life I have to have tunes on my rides. Wish I had spots big enough for anything larger than the 4" that fit. I've even considered a sub in the tour pack to get the "boom" I'm missing.
it SCREAMS!
when doing it support was going to be a major factor running that kind of weight up front... so we tapped the support frame for the stereo cage into the main mounts of the fairing
that is allot of stuff to fit and support

tacked everything up to ensure it would all fit well... tapping the support plates to actually act as the mounts

Tim welded everything up after fitment was complete

test fit

then the whole cage was coated

pre wired so that it cold all be quick release

and that is pretty much how to fit 10 lbs of stuff in a 3 lb box!

Thanks for adding the photos of the install. What a touch to construct a bracing structure.
I see you added the spring loaded front door that tucks up and inside. I bought that same one and didn't have room for it. Now it sets on a shelf waiting for some other install that could use a front cover.
I rented a 2007 FLHTCU years ago and was impressed with front and rear speaker system. It sounded like you were riding inside of a huge speaker. Didn't need a lot of volume with it either. The newest 5X7 saddlebags on the 2013 CVOs is interesting but I don't want to give up any of my limited storage space.
