Dunlop GT 502 180-60 17 will fit your 4.5 in rim.

Both Harley's SE 180 and the Pirelli night dragon will fit the stock 4.5" rim with little or no mods

ok cool. I think ill just have to try it. Ive heard to just shave down the blinker bolts on the inside of the fender

At the risk of sounding like a complete noob... are black 5.5" rims available to lace onto the stock hub? And if they are, I assume using a 17" rim would allow me to re-use my stock spokes? Chrome rims are available on Ebay, and elsewhere on the web, but I can't seem to find somethng in black.

The issue with wanting to keep a 17 is that Harley is the only company that makes a 17x4.5 rim. The next size up is a 17x6.25 from most manufacturers.

16" wheels come in a 5.5 from quite a few places. Of Course it all depends on what brand of wheel you want to go with.

As far as a 180 on a 17x4.5 the Harley S/E has been done many times on the stock wheel.

Buy the chrome one and have it pc'd. Thats what I'm doing to an 18x5.75
