Default New HD Speedo/Tach Combo Error (V IN ER)

Just got this error on my speedo/tach. Has been working as advertised since install last month. Was fine yesterday. Had my 20,000 mile service done last saturday (29 Sept). Had a free flow AC put on and had the stage 1 download installed at the same time. I am thinking the stage 1 download may have something to do with it. Taking it to the dealer to have it checked out. I am wondering if they miss typed the VIN when the did the download and now I am getting a VIN mismatch error. We will see, will keep you posted.

Does the bike hesitate to start for a second when you get the error message?

It might need the installation procedure re-run for the speedo/tacho. I don't remember this off-hand but it involved plugging in the wire on the data port.

The other thing to try is to take out the maxi-fuse and put it back i.e. a hard reset. It works for lots of computers

I do not you can do a re-install after you put over 31 miles on it. I still think may have some thing to do with the stage 1 download.

Trying to install new combo speedo/tach on 2007 fxdwg that has a thundermax ECM with autotune. Have made sure I have latest firmware updated to ECM and vin# is in ECM also but when I do the odometer download the new speedo/ tach stops at 96% and won't download further and give me the ok. When its pluged in to the console it shows no vin err on LCD screen and does not read speed or rpms. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Is this speedo/tacho supposed to be compatible with the TM ECM?

That's happened to my 2012 sbob once or twice. You have any idea what caused that?

Took it to the dealer, the tech saw the error. He cycled the ign and run switched a few times got the same error. Took the bike back in shop to reinstall the stag 1 download and before he got to it, turned the ign on and everything came up as advertised. He told me to keep an eye on it and if it happen again to let them know and they would get a hold of MOCO to see what they know about this error in relationship to this new speedo/tach combo. He stated it has a 1 year warranty on it so we have time to work on getting things worked. We will just have to see what happens.

Have read on another thread that it seems the the new speedo/tach combo may be sensitive to low voltage going to ecu. And when you have a hear start (like on a cold morning) the starter may draw more voltage than normal.
I guess it could be possible.
